Zhucheng, located in the southeast part of the Shandong Peninsula, to the west of Qingdao, north of Rizhao, east of Linyi and south of Weifang, is a world known hometown of dinosaur. At present there has verified 26 dinosaur-fossil spots among which the dinosaur valley is the most famous. The dinosaur valley, 10 Kilometer away from Zhucheng city area, is in Kugou Village, Longdu sub-district, Zhucheng. Since 1960s, Chinese Ministry of Geology, China Ancient Vertebrate and Ancient Human Research Institute, and Zhucheng People’s Government have successively excavated more than 50 tons dinosaur fossils in the dinosaur valley, including over 10 whole dinosaurs fossils and now 4 whole fossils have been set up and exhibited separately in Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan and Zhucheng. These fossils have been carried on the displays in many countries. Among these fossils, the “Huge Zhucheng Dinosaur” is the tallest one. The dinosaur fossils in the dinosaur valley are rich in quantity and varieties and kept in good conditions, and that is rare in the whole world. So the dinosaur valley is honored as the world dinosaur fossil treasure house and “national treasure” of Shandong geological mineral resource.The project occupies a land area of 6000 Chinese acres, including the core area of 1000 Chinese acres. The total investment is 1,000 million Yuan. Starting from 2008, the project will be completed in over 3 years. |
